SPoHF
The ultimate goal of project SPoHF (Sustainable Production of Healthy Food) is to create a digital twin, or virtual plant copy. This copy can be used to determine the optimal setting of all parameters for finishing.
Digital Twin
SPoHF focuses on fruit and vegetable production (greenhouse and open field) as food for humans. To improve the targeting of product quality aspects of fruits and vegetables, individual plants are considered and therefore a digital twin is developed for each plant. The monitoring of this plant is therefore done not only at the physical plant but also via a digital twin. By using this digital twin and artificial intelligence, current plant conditions – and thus the effects of certain measures (e.g. watering or additional lighting) – can be simulated to assess future effects. Finally, it is also possible to implement such measures automatically and monitor their effects.
Savings
Measures that this project specifically looks at are measures to save energy in regulating climate, lighting, in pest control and using weather data more accurately. To monitor product quality, product samples are analysed before and after the application of the measures, both in the laboratory and on site at the plant site.
By using a digital twin and artificial intelligence, cultivation can concentrate more on its core tasks: growing healthy agri-food products sustainably.
